Il titolo è una dichiarazione di metodo. Geografie — al plurale, intenzionalmente — non nomina luoghi ma modi di attraversarli.

Giovanni Convertino lavora su immagini che cercano il momento in cui un paesaggio, un oggetto o uno spazio smette di essere ovvio. Non è interesse documentare: interessa il punto di tensione in cui due stati diversi si toccano senza risolversi — verde e secco sullo stesso confine, una struttura che la natura sta lentamente riprendendo, un corpo che diventa paesaggio, un oggetto che ha già smesso di appartenere al proprio tempo.

I luoghi non hanno un’origine comune e non ne richiedono una. Un confine tra due campi, una struttura abbandonata, un oggetto fuori tempo possono trovarsi ovunque — e in Geografie si trovano ovunque. Il territorio della serie non è geografico: è quella zona di soglia in cui il confine è ancora visibile, prima che venga assorbito o dimenticato.

The title is a statement of method. Geografie — plural, intentionally — does not name places but ways of moving through them.

Giovanni Convertino works on images that seek the moment when a landscape, an object, or a space stops being obvious. The interest is not documentation: what matters is the point of tension where two different states touch without resolving — green and dry along the same boundary, a structure nature is slowly reclaiming, a body becoming landscape, an object that has already ceased to belong to its own time.

The places share no common origin, nor do they need one. A boundary between two fields, an abandoned structure, an object out of time can be found anywhere — and in Geografie, they are found anywhere. The territory of the series is not geographic: it is that threshold zone where the boundary is still visible, before it is absorbed or forgotten.

The analog prints are made by the author in his own darkroom.
